An Honouree Cork Man...
...is what Stevie G, one of Irelands most prolific of DJs and man of soul once called Phat Phil Cooper when he was frequenting the wonderful City of Cork in the late 90's... Phil said "I really fell in love with the City, the people and the vibe...".
Cork, with the help of Stevie G used to host a dedicated festival to Soul and Disco attracting many of the scenes big players of the day who knew that they had an open opportunity to play exactly what they wanted...

Phil had the very good fortune of playing in Cork over the space of a couple of years at the legendary club, simply called 'Sweat' at Sir Henrys, home to the incredible 'Fish Go Deep' boys, or Shane and Greg to their friends. Those boys held a residency of something like 13 years at the space before it was demolished and they moved to Club ONE, a venue Phil also shared a monthly residency at. Anyway the point of this post is the highlight the date for NuNorthern Soul's Cork session... We are delighted to be holding a session on the 30th January 2011. Phat Phil Cooper will be joined by Colin from Cubik Music for a NuNorthern Soul afternoon session at The Pavilion, Cork, Ireland.

8pm-2am Sunday 5 December
The third installment of MdCL's monthly clubnite in LA, 'CHURCH'. First Sunday of the month at Angel's Piano Bar, Santa Monica - next party: December 5.
From the jazz club to the turntables, each month will be a musical journey with surprise guests and features. Come in early for some dinner, drinks and dessert - the live music kicks off at 9pm with a live acoustic jazz set led by MdCL on piano and guests. At 11pm for the second set MdCL transitions to his rhodes, drum machines, synths and electronic toys for a twisted club set of jazz-infused beats, and the night wraps up with a DJ set from MdCL and guests.
This month featured guests include: Trevor Ware (bass), Paul Legaspi (drums), Nia Andrews (vox), Sy Smith (vox) and some spontaneous surprises (we've had Dwight Trible, Emoni Fela, Vesta Williams, Todd Simon, Ohmega Watts jump up - who's next?!)... plus this month's special guest DJ Moni from Friends We Love.
9pm - acoustic jazz set (seated)
10.30-11pm - DJ set (guest)
11pm - MPC club set (not so seated)
12.30-2am - DJ set (guest + MdCL)
$10 entry

NuNorthern Soul Tune of the Day Guest Selector #1 - Cosmic Boogie
For those of you who have been following the NNS Twitter account, you will be aware of The Tune of the Day...
Each day at 11.20am we Tweet a YouTube link to a piece of music we really enjoy, in the hope that you will too, after all, music is best enjoyed when shared!
Anyway, we have decided to open this up to guest selectors and the first up is the man like Cosmic Boogie...
